DarsGo - Distance based toll

On what streets in Slovenia is the DarsGo required?

Important:

While passenger cars (under 3.5t) have been granted a temporary toll-free exception on parts of the H5 and H6 in 2026 (the "Coastal Road"), this does not apply to heavy vehicles.

H5 & H6: Even though these sections (Škofije – Koper – Izola) have been reclassified as main roads to help local car traffic, they remain toll roads for DarsGo users. If you are over 3.5t, you must still pay the per-kilometer toll on these sections.

Karawanken Tunnel (A2):

  • Your DarsGo OBU will work to pay the tunnel fee automatically.
  • However, the rates for the tunnel are significantly higher than standard highway kilometers. In 2026, the tunnel toll for a 2-axle heavy vehicle starts at approximately €5.92 + VAT, increasing with the number of axles.

Where is it NOT required?

  • Regional & Local Roads: Any road marked with yellow signs or numbers like "409" or "1" (main roads that are not A or H).
  • Former H2 (Maribor): The section of the old expressway through Maribor has been fully declassified and is now a toll-free regional road for all vehicles.
