General Questions

Which roads require a Slovenian motorway vignette?

All motorways and most expressways require a valid e-vignette, including:

  • A1: Šentilj (Austrian border) – Maribor – Ljubljana – Postojna – Koper.
  • A2: Karavanke Tunnel (Austrian border) – Ljubljana – Novo Mesto – Obrežje (Croatian border).
  • A3: Divača – Fernetiči (Italian border).
  • A4: Slivnica (Maribor) – Gruškovje (Croatian border).
  • A5: Dragučova – Murska Sobota – Pince (Hungarian border).
  • Expressways: Including the H3 (Ljubljana northern bypass), H4 (Razdrto – Vrtojba), and H7 (Črni Dol – Dolga Vas).

Specific 2026 exceptions:

  • Maribor (H2): The former H2 expressway through Maribor has been reclassified as a regional road and is now toll-free.
  • H5 and H6 Expressways: As of January 1, 2026, the sections between Škofije and Koper (H5) and Koper-Semedela to Koper-Lucija (H6) are temporarily toll-free for vehicles under 3.5t until new infrastructure is completed.
  • Karavanke Tunnel: This tunnel requires a separate toll (approx. €8.20) and is not covered by the standard vignette.
